About the Authors:

Professor Harald Becher is Senior Consultant of Cardiology and Director of Echocardiography at the University of Bonn. He has worked in the field of contrast echocardiography since 1988, and is widely recognised as a pioneer of myocardial perfusion imaging with ultrasound, in which field he has accumulated unmatched clinical experience. He has been involved in many of the leading research projects and publications in contrast echocardiography and is an internationally recognised teacher and lecturer.

Dr Peter Burns is Professor of Medical Biophysics and Medical Imaging at the University of Toronto and Senior Scientist at Sunnybrook and Women's College Health Sciences Centre. He has worked on the development of ultrasound physics and instrumentation for more than 20 years, authoring more than 100 papers and three books. He developed the first harmonic and pulse inversion imaging systems for microbubble contrast imaging and is the co-inventor of the latest technique for real time perfusion imaging. He is a fellow of the American Institute for Ultrasound in Medicine and the holder of numerous honorary memberships and awards.
